Department of Interior's draft environmental impact statement concerning the leasing of federal lands for oil shale extraction. Colony, in light of the energy crisis, wanted to begin extensive oil shale refining in Western Colorado. Sixteen experts in the fields of energy and the environment met to discuss the problems that might arise from such a development. Questions are raised concerning water, air, processed shale, wildlife, ecological inventory, revegetation, impact analysis and the demand and need of energy.
