Host Marcia Alvar speaks with Jonathan Kozol, author of Savage Inequalities: Children in American Schools. Mr. Kozol revisited inner-city schools 25 years after he wrote the pioneering work comparing education in inner-city and suburban schools. Now he finds the funding differences even worse. He finds that while some feel money won't solve problems in education, the same people aren't willing to spend less on their own schools in order to equalize funding. He gives examples of the feelings of children in both suburban and inner-city schools.
