6680BATTLE FOR THE TREES*BATTLE FOR THE TREES*1993color57 minvhs It is a complex battle being fought on many fronts--in corporate board rooms, in legislatures, on the streets and in the woods. The weapons range from million-dollar public relations campaigns to quiet acts of civil disobedience. At stake are the last stands of old-growth coastal forest of British Columbia, which are being clearcut at an increased rate every year. Soon they will be gone forever. The soldiers are ordinary citizens, scientists, loggers, environmentalists, and Natives who are witnessing the liquidation of our public forests and, with it, a way of life. Examines the battle strategies of both sides, and offers some practical solutions that balance economic needs with the preservation of the ancient forests.
