Introduces the research and findings on the functioning of the cerebral hemispheres. Presents some of the tests developed by Drs. Jane and Norman Jackworth to study brain-damaged patients, demonstrations by Dr. Ornstein of experiments that use an electroencephalograph to record the alpha rhythm of brain waves in normal subjects, reenactments of some of the dramatic tests developed for use with split-brain patients and Dr. Hilgard's use of hypnosis to demonstrate what he calls "divided consciousness" and the phenomenon of the "hidden observer."
